Several studies have found some amazing ways that a few cups of coffee can improve your health.
Coffee has had a bad rep in the past. Some would say that it was bad for your heart, that it was linked to some types of cancer and if you are a child coffee drinker, everyone thinks that drinking it would stunt your growth.
Here are some of the results – the health benefits of coffee:
- Based on around 36 studies involving more than 1.2 million people, those people who drank 3 to 5 cups of coffee a day were at the lowest risk for cardiovascular problems.
- A group of studies together based on more than 480,000 participants found that drinking 2 to 6 cups of coffee a day was associated with a lower risk of stroke compared to those who drank no coffee at all.
- Another analysis found that drinking a “normal” amount of coffee was associated with a lower risk of heart failure. Only those who drank more than 10 cups a day saw any increase in risk of heart failure.
- A study looking at coffee consumption and all cancers seems to suggest that it might be associated with reduced overall cancer incidence.
Having said all of this, make no mistake, there are downsides to coffee. Too much coffee can interfere with your sleep since caffeine is an addictive substance.
If you are used to drinking three cups a day and you stop suddenly you will go through withdrawal, with a bad headache and feeling really terrible for several days until your body adjusts.
So, the result is that if you don’t have any sleep problems after drinking the good stuff then enjoy your coffee. It can actually be good for you!
